    TCR is a list and a web site that serves the international community of freelance translators. On the list, translators discuss payment experiences with different agencies and companies they have worked with, as well as discussing other related topics. This is a strictly MODERATED list, governed by a short list of Rules that must be complied with due to legal implications

    The Payment Practices list was started by Karin Adamczyk, a French-English freelance translator, on December 21, 1999.     sci.lang.translation.marketplace is an excellent resource for finding translation jobs. This link will take you directly to which allows you to browse the newsgroup postings.

  • SOS Translator Chat
    SOS Translator Chat is an idea that has been developed due to the needs of clients who require translations on a regular basis: small translations, sometimes only a sentence, sometimes only a word that is needed in another language. When you register as a translator, which is free, the customer can chat with you about their translation request. Payment will be based on your price per minute, with or without the start rate, which you can set in your account. You, as a translator, will set your own prices and your own start rate. Keep your prices attractive as the client can see your prices and your qualifications. In your online account you can request the release of payment whenever you want.

    Although not specifically translation job related there will inevitably be job postings in it. I thought this group worth including because it is still quite young (set up by Mary Maloof in October 1998). SPtranslators deals with all aspects of English ==> Spanish translation and was set up as a forum for Spanish translators who are not necessarily on Compuserve.
